The county treasurer/collector collects property taxes after they are assessed and municipal, county, school and improvements district taxes. The treasurer/collector prepares a list of delinquent personal property taxes and files a list of taxes levied on real estate that the treasurer/collector has been unable to collect with the circuit/county clerk.
The treasurer/collector disburses county and school district funds. The treasurer/collector receives county tax collections, county turnback funds, federal matching funds, state aid to school district funds and revenues from various taxing units of the county. The county treasurer/collector signs checks authorized by the county court. The treasurer/collector keeps an accurate, detailed account of receipts and disbursements of the county and makes a monthly financial report to the quorum court on the fiscal condition of the county.
