OUR CLUB COMPONENTS
Our Club is more than just another program. It is a way of thinking. Our Club allows community residents to 'take back" their neighborhoods from negative and harmful influences.
The basic idea is that children and families need activities in their Neighborhood which are accessible at time when they are not occupied with work or school: in the evenings, on weekends, and during the summer. An Our Club provides a haven where young people can escape from the streets and begin to build a life filled with hope and promise.
Not all Our Clubs look exactly alike. Each Our Club has it's own mix of programs and services. Such programs are designed to help people cope with the challenges they face. Our Clubs offer a wide cariety of classes and activities directed to specific needs in the community. Examples of possible activities include:
- Smoking Cessation
- Art and Creative Expression
- Communication Training
- Drug-resistance Education
- Heath and Nutrition classes
- Job Skills and Career Development
- Legal Rights Information
- Money Managemnet Training
- Parenting Classes
- Pregnancy Information
- Self-esteem Development
- Sport Activities
- Tutoring and Literacy Training
- Violence Prevention
- Abstinence Information
Most importantly, Our Club offers an atmosphere of caring, acceptance and support to everyone in the neighborhood.
