PULASKI COUNTY YOUTH SERVICES - OUR CLUB

The Pulaski County Council for Children and Youth Services (PCCCYS), which is a coalition of county, state and local governments, service organizations, businesses, churches, civic groups and associations, was developed in 1991 by then Governor Bill Clinton and Pulaski County Judge F.G. "Buddy" Villines. The organization's purpose is to address the increasing number of youth and children becoming involved in gangs, violence, crime, and substance abuse. Using years of study available to identify what children need to grow healthy and strong, PCCCYS developed the Our Club model. There are currently several sites throughout Pulaski County. These Our Club sites provide tutoring, mentoring, and many other positive educational, social and recreational opportunities for the youth of Pulaski County. Since the inception of the first Our Club site, over 1,500 youth have reaped the benefits of this comprehensive program. The Our Club program works as evidenced by higher grade point averages, improved self-esteem, decreased reports of youth violence and arrest rates of juveniles, and increased community awareness.
